At MSS Architects, creativity thrives through connection. That’s why we’ve designed our studio to be more than just a workspace—it’s a hub for collaboration, innovation, and the dynamic exchange of ideas.
Our studio at 113 Breithaupt Street tells a story of transformation. To capture the essence of our brand, we’ve transformed an outdated and underused building into a contemporary office space that honors not only its industrial heritage, but also contributes to the revitalization of the city’s core. Situated in the heart of the “innovation district,” alongside MSS-designed Breithaupt Block with high-tech tenant Google Canada, our studio reflects the forward-thinking energy of our team.
The building’s exterior features monolithic black siding, creating a bold, cohesive skin that contrasts with the light-filled, welcoming white interior. This contrast underscores the building’s industrial origins while elevating its design. Constructed with humble materials such as wood, metal cladding, and aluminum-clad wood windows, the design celebrates the beauty of simplicity.
A standout feature is the long, horizontal window—dubbed ‘the monitor’—which rises above the studio, offering panoramic views of the city and the rail line that runs adjacent to the property. This thoughtful design not only enhances the workspace but also beautifies and reinvigorates the surrounding urban landscape. The studio interior design is a gallery-like, minimalist space with a reflective and peaceful mood.
